Applying Big6 Skills™,
Information Literacy Standards and ISTE NETS to Internet Research
"The new education must teach the individual how to classify and reclassify information, how to evaluate its veracity, how to change categories when necessary, how to move from the concrete to the abstract and back, how to look at problems from a new direction - how to teach himself.  Tomorrow's illiterate will not be the man who can't read; he will be the man who has not learned how to learn."                 -- Herbert Gerjuoy

The Big 6 Kids For K to 12 Students

Big6 The Big6 is an outstanding approach to teaching information and technology skills in the world. Used in thousands of K-12 schools, higher education institutions, and corporate and adult training programs, the Big6 information problem-solving process is applicable whenever people need and use information. This official Big6 Web site provides overview and in-depth information about the Big6. The site is aimed at educators, administrators, parents, and anyone else interested in helping students to learn and use essential information and technology skills.

What is the Big Six Skills Approach?

The Big Six is an information literacy curriculum, an information problem-solving process, and a set of skills which provide a strategy for effectively and efficiently meeting information needs. Developed by Michael Eisenberg and Bob Berkowitz, it can be used whenever students are in a situation, academic or personal, which requires information to solve a problem, make a decision or complete a task.
