Chicagos's Structured Curriculum Table of Contents Chicago Public Schools had instituted a structured curriculum with daily lesson plans for every grade K - 12. Look at your grade level to see if there are suggested activities you wish to adapt for your own classroom. Adobe Acrobat is needed to view these lesson plans.

Neuroscience for Kids - Drawing
Neuroscience for Kids is having a DRAWING CONTEST. The contest is open to all students from kindergarten through grade 12. Make sure you use the official entry form:
Here are the rules:
Only one entry per person. Use the official entry form (copies of the form are acceptable) to draw a picture on the topic for your age group (see below). Drawings must be done by hand using pencils, pens, markers, and/or crayons. Feel free to use words in your drawings. Be creative!
Entries will be divided into four groups based on age:

To enter the drawing contest, mail your completed entry form with your drawing to:

Entries must be received by February 1, 2003, and cannot be returned.
People and their families associated with the Neuroscience for Kids web site are not eligible to enter the contest.
Drawings will be judged by the staff of Neuroscience for Kids or by other individuals designated by Dr. Eric H. Chudler. Drawings will be judged on the basis of originality, scientific accuracy and overall design.
At least one winner from each group will be selected. Winners will be announced on March 1 and will be notified by e-mail or regular mail.
The winner agrees to allow Neuroscience for Kids to publish his/her name (first name, last initial only) and artwork on the Neuroscience for Kids web site. Winner addresses and e-mail addresses will be kept confidential and will NOT be published.
All materials received will become the property of Neuroscience for Kids and will not be returned. Neuroscience for Kids will not be held responsible for entries that are damaged or lost in the mail.
Winners will be awarded a book, CD-ROM or other prize related to the brain. The specific prizes will be announced later. Prizes will be mailed to the address listed on the winner's entry form.

Your mission is to start with the "Introduction to Computers". There's a series of pages to read and activities to do. There will be a handout for all students to place in their duotangs. Since this is going to be on the second term test one should consider this a serious assignment.
The Student Section appears to be an an online science museum filled with interactive learning activities to explore and videos to watch.

Winter Scavenger Hunts ...Winter Physical Education... Winter Olympics This works best on snow, but can be played as long as it's not too warm outside! Divid your students into 2 teams. Colour water with food colouring, and make ice cubes. Scatter them around a playing area and set your students loose to find them! The group which finds the most ice cubes wins!
